Building Strong Communities

Through partnerships, training, and community programs, we create opportunities that last.

About Ozark Opportunities

Since 1969, Ozark Opportunities, Inc. (OOI) has been here to support families and strengthen communities across six Arkansas counties: Baxter, Boone, Marion, Newton, Searcy, and Van Buren. As a private, nonprofit 501(c)(3) Community Action Agency, our mission is simple: help people build better lives and create stronger, more resilient communities in the Ozarks.

Community First

OOI is guided by a local tri-partite board of directors, with representatives from public officials, local businesses, and the low-income community. This balance ensures that every decision reflects the real needs and voices of the people we serve.

We regularly conduct Community Needs Assessments in each county, and the information we gather shapes our programs, resources, and long-term strategic plans. That way, we’re not just offering services—we’re meeting real, local needs.

Programs & Services

From early childhood education to housing, energy assistance, and community development, we provide a wide range of services to help families thrive. Across our six counties, OOI operates:

  • 7 Head Start Centers (8 classes), 3 ABC classrooms, and 4 Early Head Start Centers
  • County offices in each county seat
  • Programs that support families with education, housing, food assistance, job training, and more
  • Eligibility for our programs is based on income guidelines, which vary depending on the service.

A Legacy of Service

Over the years, OOI has played a leading role in launching and supporting programs that have grown into major initiatives across the state and beyond. From Meals on Wheels and community centers to housing programs and volunteer networks, we’ve helped create opportunities that last. See a full list of our past initiatives here!

Featured Success Story
One of OOI’s proudest accomplishments was leading the creation of the Community Resource Group in Fayetteville, Arkansas. What began as a local project to develop rural water and sewer systems is now a multi-million-dollar organization serving multiple states. Their mission remains true to its roots: helping people build secure and sustainable futures by assisting small, rural communities with water and wastewater solutions, and by helping hardworking families achieve the American dream of safe, secure housing.

Our Commitment

Ozark Opportunities is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and service provider. We believe in treating everyone with dignity, fairness, and respect. Our staff is dedicated, compassionate, and passionate about helping families in the Ozarks succeed.

Whether you need early education opportunities for your child, support for your family, or community resources, we’re here to help.
